Hongsheng Jin
Hongsheng has practiced Tai Chi for more than 20 years. She is a member of the Chinese Wushu Association, a national Wushu athlete of China, a member of the The United States of America Wushu Kungfu Federation (USAWKF), and a National Academy of Sports Medicine Certified Personal Trainer (NASM-CPT), the Tai Chi instructor of the Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University, and the youngest Tai Chi judge invited by the International Chinese Martial Arts Championship. She was also the founder and head coach of StartUppers Tai Chi at the Cambridge Innovation Center and Winchester School of Chinese Culture.
Hongsheng is proficient in traditional Tai Chi styles such as Yang, Chen, and Sun, as well as competitive routines. She also excels in traditional and competitive Tai Chi weapons such as Wudang Sword, Long-Tasseled Sword, Hua Wu Fan, and Chen-style Fan. She has won over sixty medals in both national and international martial arts competitions, including six consecutive gold medals in Tai Chi quan and Tai Chi weapons at international martial arts competitions.
She has volunteered in multiple charitable events as well as been invited to perform Tai Chi in a number of cultural events, such as Asian American Day, Boston Dragon Boat Festival, International Cultural Festival at Revere public school, International Night at Vinson Owen Elementary School Winchester, Spring Festival Gala by Chinese Cultural Association, Beijing Olympic Games-Sailing Center, etc.
Her students have also achieved impressive results. They have won gold medals in International Chinese Martial Arts Championship (ICMAC) for Tai Chi quan forms, first place in the U.S. University Martial Arts Competition for Tai Chi quan and Tai Chi weapon, and gold medals in the China National Yang-style Tai Chi quan Invitational Competition. Additionally, winning in Tai Chi competitions has also bolstered their college applications, some of them have received admission offers from Ivy League universities, including University of Pennsylvania and Cornell University.
